New sister project with upcoming vacancies

Migration plans and desires are part of the MIGNEX research agenda. They are also the centrepiece of a new five-year research project at PRIO, which focuses on West Africa.

By Jørgen Carling – Published on

The project Future Migration as Present Fact (FUMI) will examine the question How does migration that has not yet taken place shape the lives of individuals and the development of societies? It is funded by a European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant to Jørgen Carling. Over the next five years, he will divide his time between leading MIGNEX and FUMI. Field research for the project will be carried out in Cape Verde, Ghana and either Gambia or Guinea. In addition to Jørgen, the core project team will include two postdoctoral researchers. The first will specialize in ethnographic research and will be hired this year. The second postdoctoral researcher, a survey specialist, will be hired in 2020. To learn more about the project and the vacancies, visit the project page on PRIO’s website.
