The MIGNEX research at Maastricht University is based at two research environments: the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance and the Faculty of Law.
The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance has a Migration and Development Group with a team of approximately 30 researchers doing mixed-methods research on migration across the world. The school is integrated with the United Nations University UNU-MERIT. The Faculty of Law has leading expertise on migration-related legal issues, including the free movement of persons, citizenship, and third-country co-operation on migration.
Migration-related research in different units of Maastricht University is connected through the Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration and Development (MACIMIDE). The University has also established an Institute for Transnational and Euregional cross-border cooperation and Mobility (ITEM).
