After studying International and Diplomatic Relations (Development policies) at the University of Bologna, Italy, Ester obtained a PhD in social anthropology at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales de Paris in 2011. Studying school and family education in the Guinean Fulani society, she is interested in any form of mobility, from transhumance to international migrations. Since 2008, she has been teaching anthropology, sociology of education and sociology of development in Guinean Universities. Her research interests and publications concern education (she is a research fellow at the Knowledge Lab at Bayreuth University, Germany) and migration, with the participation, as a senior researcher, in national and international research projects on geographical and social mobility, migration- development nexus and return migrations.
